Digitally remastered 17 disc box set (16 CDs + DVD) containing all 14 original Beatles albums released between 1963 and 1970 plus the two CD Past Masters collection of non-album tracks and a bonus DVD containing all the mini documentaries that can be found as enhanced tracks on each of the individual CD releases. The documentaries contain archival footage, rare photographs and never-before-heard studio chat from The Beatles, offering a unique and very personal insight into the studio atmosphere. The albums have been remastered at Abbey Road Studios in London utilizing state of the art recording technology alongside vintage studio equipment, carefully maintaining the authenticity and integrity of the original analogue recordings. I have been listening to the Beatles for about 35 years. Although I liked many of their songs when I was younger; I didn’t really appreciate how wonderful their music was until I got older. This collection is simply amazing! First, it is great to have a complete record of all their studio recordings. However, the amazing part is the sound quality. Its like listening to the Beatles for the first time again. The stereo mixing allows one to hear some separation in the instrumental tracks, bringing a whole new persepctive to many songs.
I put off this purchase for a couple years due to the expense, but now I can say it was worth every penny. In fact, after listening to these remasters, I would pay twice what I paid. I have bought several Beatles albums and CD’s over the years, but the quality was never quite right. Now I can’t stop listening to these CD’s; it is that good. If you like the Beatles music, you will LOVE it after you hear this collection. It is quite possibly the most perfect collection of remasters I have ever heard. A fitting tribute to the greatest Rock & Roll band ever.
The packaging is nice too, but I am not one who is overly concerned with such trivial things. Some have complained abot the packaging; all I can say is its a nice box and well organized. For me, it is all about music quality and The Beatles Stereo Box Set is fantastic!
